ABOUT

After recently retiring from my corporate career, I am finally able to pursue my passion for photography in a more fulfilling way. My interests and expertise aren't limited to a single genre of photography. Whether it's landscape, macro, food photography, travel photography or portraiture, my cameras are never far from me, and I'm frequently seen with the viewfinder pressed to my face.

My Evolution as a Photographer:

Though my job as mom-photographer began many years ago, my first digital camera, a dinky little 3 MP Fuji point and shoot camera purchased in 2003, kindled my obsession with photographing everything in sight. The freedom from film and processing costs was liberating! That camera was permanently attached to me until it broke at the beginning of a trip to Ireland. I rushed right down to the nearest camera store (in Dublin) and purchased a replacement. Then another and another - until I made the move to an entry level Canon DSLR in 2007. Since then, I've graduated to a high end Canon 5D Mark III full frame professional camera with L class lenses - (L is for Luxury and big bucks). My knowledge of all aspects of digital photography has grown by leaps and bounds. I have attended workshops and have taken photography courses at Stanford and online. I have absorbed countless blogs, Youtube videos, photo sharing sites, books, and magazines and firmly believe in continuous improvement and learning.

Why Should you Pay for Professional Photography:

We live in a visual age - everyone can take, post and forward pictures with their cell phone. But these images are lost in the digital morass of our on-line worlds, and soon forgotten or lost. None of these ever end up on your walls and certainly not in a photo album, neatly labelled with the name, place and date. What will you show your children when they ask for mementoes of their childhood? Your phone? Your Instagram account? Your facebook account?

When you make the decision to have professional portraits created by Jill Clardy Photography, you have decided not to settle for just snaps, clicks, photos or pix. A professional portrait, created with care and attention to detail,  properly lit, using high end equipment, carefully posed and edited, and printed at a professional lab will be hung on your wall, treasured for many years and even handed down to the next generation. A backup drive or on-line archive of digital files does not become a family heirloom. A framed portrait does. Don’t settle for anything less.
